Dr. Chenoa Orme-Stone is an accomplished cellist and music educator based in Santa Barbara, California, celebrated for her expressive playing and innovative concert programming. She has premiered a wide range of new works, from solo cello pieces to orchestral compositions, helping bring fresh voices into the classical music world.
A passionate educator, Chenoa has extensive teaching experience and maintains a vibrant cello studio that serves students of all ages and levels. Her students have won top prizes in regional and national competitions and gone on to study at leading institutions such as The Juilliard School. Chenoa has also served in leadership roles with organizations such as Junior Chamber Music and is frequently invited to adjudicate, teach masterclasses, coach ensembles, and lead workshops around the country.
Chenoa grew up in Seattle, Washington, where she fell in love with the cello at age four. She earned her Bachelor of Music from Indiana University and her Master of Music from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where she performed with the Diamond Ensemble, Copenhagen Philharmonic, and Royal Danish Opera. She completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of California, Santa Barbara, serving as a Teaching Assistant for cello and orchestra and performing in the graduate fellowship quartet. Her principal teachers included Emilio Colón, Morten Zeuthen, Marc Coppey, Jennifer Kloetzel, and Rajan Krishnaswami, and she has performed in masterclasses for world-renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, Astrid Schween, David Geber, Julia Lichten, Martin Menking, and Chu Yi-Bing.
Beyond music, Chenoa enjoys storytelling in all its forms, volunteering at the local animal shelter, and hunting down the best vegan tacos.
